A Christ-Centered Community Committed to Academic Excellence
+Dear St. Cecilia School Families,
Today we celebrate the birthday of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Bishop Baron shared this quote from him:
“Agape is something of understanding, creative, redemptive goodwill for all men. ... When you rise to love on this level, you begin to love men, not because they are likeable, but because God loves them. You look at every man, and you love him because you know God loves him.”
When I speak to students about conflicts, I remind them that Jesus tells us “to love one another as I love you.” I think Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. understood what Jesus told us. I also ask the students to imagine our school, our city, our country, and our world if we truly follow Jesus’ Law of Love?”
Perhaps all of us can take time this week, as we prepare for the Inauguration of President Biden, to imagine our country (and our city, our schools, and our families) rising to the level of looking at every person and loving them because God loves them. Some might say this is not possible, but we do know that with God, all things are possible.
Finally, let us pray for our new President and Vice-President, for all of our leaders and for our country.
Have a great week! God bless you,
Sister Catherine Irene, IHM
