Saint Cecilia Parish School is a Christ-centered community committed to our Catholic identity and academic excellence. Our administrators, faculty, staff, families, and students collaborate in an environment of shared values. Inspired by the spirit of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we empower our students to explore and develop their individual God-given talents. Animated by faith, hope, and love, we live Gospel values and respond to the needs of the global society. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +Dear St. Cecilia School Families, January 16, 2023
Our faculty and staff began the work of our Middle States Re-accreditation last school year. We will have our official visit from Sunday, April 30 until Wednesday, May 3. One of the first things we did was to create our Foundational Documents. These documents are the Mission Statement, our Belief Statements or Core Values, and the Profile of a Graduate. Today, I share with you our Mission Statement.
Beginning on Tuesday, we will recite our new Mission Statement every morning as a school. Additionally, the classes will do different projects and writing assignments to help them understand the Mission Statement and to find examples of how the Mission Statement is practiced at St. Cecilia School. We want to do more than memorize the words. As an entire school community, we want our Mission Statement to be a living document where our words are put into action.
Our Mission Statement is for all of us. When our Mission Statement is a living document, then we should be doing the following:
As a Christ-centered community, we should strive to be close to Jesus through our participation in the sacraments, especially going to Mass each week
Committed to our Catholic identity means that we are faithful to the traditions of our faith – praying together, teaching Religion every day, praying the Rosary (at home, too), etc.
Committed to academic excellence and aware of their individual God-given talents, we expect that our students will do their best, including completing homework and assignments, studying for tests, and simply trying hard at all times.
Our administration, faculty, staff, families and students collaborate in an environment of shared values. Our shared values are the Gospel values of love of God and love of neighbor. When we live this part of our Mission Statement, then we should treat one with respect and dignity, in school, at home, and in our neighborhoods. We hold each other accountable when we fail or when we do things that upset, harm, or insult others.
Animated by faith, hope and love, we believe in the goodness of the St. Cecilia School and Parish community. We know that what we need to do in order to bring Jesus to all we meet each day, and we try to do this every day.
We respond to the needs of the global society. We will serve our world in many ways, especially when different needs arise.
When we all work together to live our Mission Statement, then we will be the school that God calls us to be – school truly centered on Jesus Christ and bringing His love to all we meet! Have a great week! God bless you, Sister Catherine Irene, IHM
